Ontario International
Ontario International Airport is the last airport to join TBI network. Located east of Downtown Los Angeles, the airport is equipped with one of the longest runways in Southern California. Runway 8L/26R is longer three of the four LAX runways, as well as longer than any runways at San Diego airport. ONT is the preferred alternative airport for airliners landing at LAX and hosts an important cargo activity with about 800,000 metric tons of cargo handled in 2024. The airport is also a hub for UPS and a distribution center for FedEx. On the passenger side, the airport offers regional flights as well as direct transpacific flights to Taipei, Taiwan operated by China Airlines and Starlux Airlines.
TBI is responsible for airfield maintenance on behalf of the Airport Authority. It implies maintaining all pieces of pavement as well as navigational aids, antennas and the lightening system. In addition, TBI successfully oversaw Runway 26l rehabilitation program. The objectives for TBI were to comply with international and federal safety standards to improve safety at the airport. Now, TBI is focusing on several taxiway rehabilitation projects to increase the airport capacity and keep pushing for a safer airport.
